portrait

bruce lee's famous quote, from his best movie enter the dragon: “we need emotional content.
don’t think— feel! it is like a finger pointing away to the moon,
don’t concentrate on the finger, or you will miss all that heavenly glory....”
ah, you ask— how does this relate to the photographic portrait?
bruce lee was saying that focusing on the tool (finger) distracts from the main goal (heavenly glory)—
actions must be infused with feelings to achieve excellence:
creating a captivating portrait with emotional content requires genuine connection
and intentional storytelling, rather than just technical perfection.
that is exactly what i strive to achieve with every portrait i shoot.
